There is nothing more magical than for a child to interact with nature for the first time. Yes, I know as an educator they are building schema which they can reference later.
In that initial moment, though, curiosity takes over the child. They use their senses to interact with nature to the fullest. Thinking about this reminded me of my niece.
I wonder what was going on in her little brain as she watched the frog move around in the bucket?
Remember the first time you experienced something in nature? Would love to hear your thoughts!

I remember as a 4-year-old, I would lay on my lawn following the billowy clouds with my eyes, hoping to catch a glimpse of my grandfather (he had just passed).
It gave me a curiosity for science, especially weather-related science (not so much on the slimy and stingy reptiles or insects). I still have that child-like gaze in my eyes and love all sorts of weather. Thank God for child-like curiosity -- and thanks for reminding us to notice in ourselves and our little friends.

I see your child-like curiosity in so many things. Keep the wonder going! Thanks for the comment.

And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything.
