We all know teachers who have inspired us and left lasting impressions on our hearts and minds. My third grade teacher, Mrs. Graff, was just such a lady. She made each student feel important and vital for the success of the entire classroom. She always made time for students if they needed extra help or just a friendly ear.
Sometimes, though, it is the little things that make someone stand out. I remember one of my fellow students giving Mrs. Graff the ugliest macaroni necklace I've ever seen. She took it with a tear in her eye and proudly wore it as if it was the finest gold necklace. At that moment, I could not have loved her more. She genuinely cared for her students and loved teaching.
Know of anyone like my beloved Mrs. Graff? The Excellence in Education Award is a wonderful way to show our Iowa teachers just how much we appreciate them for all of their hard work and love for learning and our children. Consider taking a few minutes to nominate an outstanding teacher for the Excellence in Education Award.
Download the nomination form or fill out an online version. All entries are due by September 12th. Thanks to Drew McLellan for turning me on to this worthy award.
We all have a Mrs. Graff in our lives - Who is yours?
